Tell HN: Mayday Solidarity
Today is the International Labor Day, where workers around the world lay down work and march in solidarity for better wages, better conditions, and a more fair society. But also to celebrate past labor victories and commemorate our past labor heroes who sometimes sacrificed their lives to give us the working conditions we take for granted today.
Laying down work on May 1st goes back to the late 19th Century USA, where the police executed four labor leaders that were fighting for 8 hour work days, a incident later known as the Haymarket massacre.
HN is primarily a workers forum, where workers in the tech industry celebrate each other’s work. I declare solidarity with my fellow workers here on HN and hope our continued struggle for better wages and conditions allow our industry to keep flourishing and for us workers to bear the fruit of our labor.
Solidarity!
