For years in the 1960s, every catalog from Edmund Scientific featured something called the Spilhaus Space Clock. This article doesn't mention it, but it must have been by the same guy.
I remember Spilhaus as the man who, as he was leaving for greener pastures, called the U. of M a 'great, grey mediocrity.' I'd guess that that opinion caused (besides consternation) some reflection.
Now it'd be great to see the U. do more to make up for how it got those land grants the article mentioned (from Mr. Morrill).
