Peter Singer – ordinary people are evil (2020)

Famine Affluence & Morality paper (1972).

The sketch arguments seem to be that we should be donating to good causes that saves lives, but we dont. Personally I think some government scale helping would be very appropriate. The constant comparisons of the US military spending Vs US education, or Vs foreign aid are quite the thing. We just aren't very effective about giving aid, it feels so ineffective so often, and these problems feel like they need such more realistic at-scale approaches than donating to relief orgs.

But those relief orgs are also saints & doing amazing work. Donate to them. I forget what orgs I ended up giving my X/$ to. And thank you.

Like provably evil.
