Ask HN: Why isn't math education motivated by its application to video games?

While the application to video game development may be a motivation for some there is a large segment of those taking math education, possibly the majority, for which video games and video game development holds little to no interest. Orienting math education around video games may actually be demotivating to many of them.

A trivialization of the subject really.

Because not all people are interested in making video games? If one is, surely it's not hard to find out which parts of math you need for it.

Even 2d for algebra.

X=X+1

inequalities for bounds checking.
