To people who were laid off,did layoff changed the commitment to employers
What was the psychological impact of layoff?
Did it changed your commitment level?
Were you laid off due to neopotism?
The second job was a "lay off" by surprise. A new manager came in and a pile of staff were let go. I was blind sided, and it's really screwed me up. Even now, years later if I have a meeting with a manager, I'm nervous. I don't ever get emotionally involved in work. I don't care as much about their "WHY". I cover my butt.
To be honest, I don't know that I'll ever recover from the last one. My only hope is to become a freelance, or my own boss. At least being let go then doesn't hurt.
The ease with which this can be achieved (compared to the rest of the world) is the only real advantage American business culture has left to offer.
If you are not working toward this goal, I see a rude awakening in your future.
