I think this disabuses a common media narrative about how much 'better' many older Americans are compared to younger generations. Despite two decades of economic prosperity--the 80s and 90s--many gen-x and boomers are woefully short on savings, similar to millennials and gen-z. On the other hand, many young people have gotten wealthy over the past decade thanks to high-paying jobs, particularly 'professional' jobs such as tech, consulting, medical, law, etc. [0], low interest rates, and booming stock stock market and housing market. It also shows the pitfalls of making generalizations about large groups of people, as the media often tends to do.
