GM plans to phase out Apple CarPlay in EVs, with Google's help

I really dislike that Google purposefully tries to blur their Auto and Automotive products.
Why this sucks even if they’re both android:
1. Your software updates are tied to your car manufacturer rolling them out. Will they have better support life’s than your phone?
2. Your processing power and capabilities are tied to your car, which are often more sluggish than what even mid range phones provide. You might upgrade your phone multiple times during the cars lifetime but you now can’t benefit from your increased snappiness.
3. You only get eight years of service subscriptions to maps etc… whereas with your phone it’s indefinite.
4. The same apps don’t run on both for some reason. So you don’t get parity
5. Your account logins and preferences are tied to your car. That makes it worse for shared vehicles like family cars and rentals/fleets.
I dislike that Reuters positions this as Apple vs Google
