Given how many of the aforementioned technologists are skirting a very thin line to becoming present cons one would think the answer would be yes...

the fortune 500 rule comes to mind. Joking aside, as a "technologist" I like to talk to people who have unique perspectives and problems. As a person living on easymode(white collar life, apartment, ample food) I don't have many problems, nor do I have much visibility given that everyone I interact with at my job is in basically the same situation.
