Alternative to Vercel without losing vercel features

"The goal of OpenNext is to create an open source, framework agnostic, serverless adapter for Next.js"

OpenNext is currently built for AWS but they plan to support any functions as a service platform.

Is this really "open". It seems to me that by "open" they mean, outside of Vercel and inside Amazon. What do you think ? Has someone used it ?
