Edit: ok, I've merged the thread back to the original submission and edited the title to clarify that it has more information than just the blog post. It's late, of course, but better than never I guess.

It already loses the points it would have gained by staying on the front page. I don't want to rub salt in any wounds!

There's definitely a better karma-sharing solution to be built here. One of these years we'll get to it.
