Here's a decent explainer:
Also the use of pneumatic tools (from I assume, some central compressor) as well as battery powered impact drills. Wouldn't it be so much more economic to use all pneumatic tools? All stations are static, one big compressor feeding a bunch of cheap pneumatic heads versus all the individual battery tools, and managing the batteries, etc. Maybe their tooling changes frequently due to the semi-custom nature of bowling balls?
Edit: After having seen more of the video, that robot's doing a lot of heavy lifting (no pun intended). It seems to be doing all of the movement of the balls into and out of the various machining cells, and it's involved in quite a few steps of the production process. It's definitely paying its way.
Pretty eclectic in this current transition form. Not my state to judge, not at all, I actually like what I see and lern here, it just looks funny for an outsider here and there. : )
