I like the exact way the simple things as OP, eg: for media player I use android total commander:)
But the reasonong is just wrong. The problem with the phone is that it's extremely hard to find quality sw.
Exactly in a way as finding good, dedicated hw. The problem is the same: there is no review site niether of them.
PS: of course there are lots of details, like when hw flaws come to surface and users could write that to others, there is a new hw model. And lots and lots of them, no chance thet a testing company could test enough.
I've been using the same Sansa Clip+ for (at least?) 10 years. I started loving it after I installed Rockbox, and I replaced the battery in it a few months ago. Its 32 GB micro SD card is almost full with Opus files, so it has about a month's worth of music on it. I push the power button and it's playing music in 2 seconds, and navigating music by directories is dead simple. I even have another Sansa Clip+ ready to go if this one fails, but these things are built like old Nokia phones.
