You are welcome to try to heap scorn for emotional manipulation & selling hard the tragedy of this situation, but my god. It takes my breath away watching a once prized useful open space medium burn.
The losses are going to keep coming, stacking up higher & higher, and not a single thing coming down the pipe has promise hope or upside. Some of what we lose will genuinely hurt, cause real damage. And the zeitgeist being pisses all over, the loss of the open medium, is a major blow to the whole spirit of the online connected world project.
It's now a very different, degenerate beast, and institutions and eventually people will have to adapt and use something else. Twitter's dying. You may not see it, but it's no longer is a utility, it's Elon's fan club and then a very long tail of people who haven't found an alternative yet.
This process may have started before Elon's takeover, but it was reversible. Now... it's not.
