Ask HN: Why is clickbait like kryptonite on HN?

Hn is good at filtering standard "one weird trick" internet clickbait. But there a brand of clickbait title, e.g. "Giving up on rust" that is HN specific and works just as well. However, there are mechanisms that bury or down rank stories that "set off the flame war detector" - way more comments than upvotes is the only one I know. So it's more balanced than you might see elsewhere.

if its not labeled, as a satire, or an example supportive of context, there is great potential for amplification of misinformation.

generally HN users have pretty good BS detection system, however this is an uncommon trait at large.

many people have reflex thought or triggers, its almost a social duty for people like us, to take care of these people when they stray from critical media consumption.
