A Modest Proposal for the Non-Existence of Exoplanets

Lest somebody take this seriously, what I really want to know is how, after all the work they put into it, they managed to miss the target release date.

The closer to midnight on a day you submit a paper to the arxiv the closer to the top of the "new" list you are the next day.

I assume they submitted at 23:59 and were aiming for 00:00

Submitted March 29th, so likely a gamble on time it takes to get released.

This is some good trolling, shame about the date not quite being on point.

The title itself is a hint - it’s a reference to Jonathan Swift’s satirical essay known as A modest Proposal, written in 1729.

One of the pieces of evidence in the paper is a screenshot of Minecraft

While this is obviously a joke, light curves interpretation is quite challenging at times, indeed.
