That's funny! Those cities may be the absolute last in the country to implement a land value tax (though not UBI).

It's called universal basic income or a country with a social support system that helps you get back on your feet after failure.

Honestly. I have three really decent ideas that I think would be helpful for higher education, but I also have a mortgage and am middle-aged.

If there were actual social supports that could let me keep my house if my business fails, I would absolutely try all three. I've worked with enough institutions to see the need, to see the funding sources, and to understand how to sell it. But I'm afraid that maybe it's regional and not nation wide.

There is one thing worse than failure, and that is the regret of not having done it in the first place.

Except for cases where failure led to great financial ruin and loss of health etc.

Because for most of them, I'm a potential customer and they solve a very unfulfilled need that I know I and many others have. Like, I'm very familiar with the industries as a consumer, but nothing beyond that.

Is your fear of failure actually a proxy for a rational assessment of risk? Because if you don't have much to fall back on, fearing failure is pretty healthy.

You need to manage stress better. If you're stopping because of that fear, then try going for a walk. Ashwagandha is great at relieving stress, just don't take it every day.

For me, what helped was a strong support system, but that not be something that everyone has access to. It would allow you to be a bit risky with your ventures.

I searched for my username. I couldn't care less about what it spat out. It looks like it does NLP processing (LLM?) and guesses what sort of things I would like based on phrases I mentioned in random threads without looking at the context of the discussion. I actually have posted (what I think) are really great startup ideas several times in the last few months but it focused on my political/controversial comments. I can tell you that #1 for me is profitability and #2 doing something cool. I've commented a lot on being against companies doing political or "community" "mission" stuff and how people getting paid good should take that money and organize on their own to address socio-political issues they find important.

This is true, but sometimes it's hard to come up with an idea that will maximize your strengths and be enjoyable / profitable at once. There are periods in which I can't come up with nothing and some where I have too many ideas at once and can't execute them all.
