Another trick is to use @googlemail.com instead of @gmail.com

Thank you, I didn't knew you could do that to create new accounts.

Or, if you already have a dot, remove it.

i.e. Gmail treats

example@gmail.com

the same as

exam.ple@gmail.com

or

ex.amp.le@gmail.com
