Interesting, does GitHub fill in and run the template generation? How many parameters does it support?

I'd recommend finding a way to have a contentful readme in the template tepo root so people know what it is and how to use it

Yes, it fills these out after using the template.

Currently these are predefined and change name of the package to the name of the repository, owner to github handle etc.

Rest of the data can be adjusted in a standard manner (e.g. by adjusting README.md, pyproject.toml or others), is there anything you would like to see?

Regarding README.md - it is empty as it's easier to use and won't cluuter README.md of projects using the template, but we are likely to give a skeleton. Usage is defined on the right hand side in the linked doucmnetation.

I build https://github.com/hofstadter-io/hof and still prefer our create workflow (https://docs.hofstadter.io/getting-started/create/). Far more flexible than GHT and works from anywhere. It also works as an addon to existing projects.

It would be interesting to see your project as a hof creator. Similar things are on the endless examples todo list... :]

Yeah, it should substitute it after you use the template to create your own repository (as long as it doesn't have template string within the repository name). The action is run automatically, as briefly outlined in documentation here: https://inovintell.github.io/docs-template/initialization/
