For many years now Apple has been pushing ML on their devices, if anyone is well positioned to roll out models that can run on laptops/phones/tablets it's Apple. I doubt they will utilize massive GPU farms but instead focus on on-device. Time will tell if that's just "not enough" for people or if it ends up giving them a massive "edge comuniting" advantage. Who else is shipping ML processors in consumer hardware (aside from GPUs where I'd argue is barely "consumer hardware" at this point)?
It's entirely possible Apple will miss this "wave" or get trounced by it but client/server stuff has a tendency to ebb and flow between what we expect to run locally or in the cloud (on-device Siri is an example of a much better experience running something locally that most companies do in the cloud). I wouldn't bet against Apple on this.
