Show HN: Turn YouTube videos into study notes w/ Streaming, GPT, and Whisper

I just launched https://magic.jxnl.co/youtube, a small app that streamlines YouTube videos by providing powerful tools to turn video content to structured written content.

Key features:

Transcription: The app utilizes existing transcripts or our custom, private streaming version of Whisper to generate accurate transcriptions.

Markdown Summary: A streaming markdown summary is automatically created for each video, making it easier to digest the content.

Timestamps & Chapters: Our app generates timestamped sections with links that you can copy and paste into YouTube comments, which in turn creates your own chapters for seamless navigation.

Tips: Click the # to jump to that section of the youtube video, copy chapters and leave it as a comment share / help others. I even set up a little chrome extension in case people find this useful.

Note: I'm limit transcription length right now to prevent my system getting overloaded. only the first 60000 characters of transcripts are processed.

Any insights on what's happening when user visitor clicks 'Go'? Is the video transcribed via OpenAI Whisper and then passed through GPT?

in input a url as it requested and all it did was show me the video in embedded form. no summarization or anything. id rather just watch it on youtube
