The new welcome screens are something baffling to me. When I open Kate, a text editor, I immediately want to type my text, not be greeted by options and look for "new file".
Having a gui for settings helps with not having to memorize in what forsaken directory an application keeps its config files, because apparently that's not standard. Is it in .config? Or maybe .<app name>? Maybe /etc/thing?
I hope KDE does not fall into this trap.
I think the next step is a global setting that says, "I am an experienced computer user, please don't try hold my hand all the time, it's creepy"
