It seems AWS is not having a good day

Reddit is down, and even HN seems to be experiencing some issues.

Why is this post labeled with a date from 2014?

I think it's a typo. 1 is next to 2 and 4 next to 3.

Yes it was a typo. My fingers are also experiencing an outage.

At least you're admitting it.

Thats quite the typo!

aws says no issue. It's very frustrating having problems but the company won't admit it's their problem.

When Apple was having issues a few weeks ago, commenters seemed impressed and relieved that it was reported truthfully on their status page, including the honesty to mark services with red dots instead of the usual “Some users may experience degraded performance” codswallop https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34916962

Getting good reporting on down status is unfortunately the pointy end of Goodhart’s Law. No real way to guarantee good reporting will happen, even Apple’s status page would likely start lying if anything started materially depending on it.

I've always been a fan of how far they're willing to stretch the technically correct "Some customers are experiencing higher error rates" status.

There was an outage in 2014, but not as big and not at the date noted in the title:

twitter down now too

Mission accomplished
