Teens Are Stealing More Cars. They Learn How on Social Media

Hyundai and Kia put their customers in such a shitty situation by not including a bare-minimum security feature (engine immobilizer) in many of their recent cars. The teens are definitely in the wrong, but there's some blame to be placed in the companies.

Consider the algorithm that shows kids these videos of other kids stealing cars and playing with guns.

Go far east and the algorithm shows kids videos of other kids not stealing cars.

My concern with what goes "viral" has made me ask the question. Are these things really going viral? Or are they newly manufactured viruses.

A different kind of virus where you convince someone that something is true. Like Reddit and it's original bot accounts giving the impression of community.

For instance is Kia/Hyundai to blame for their shitty cars? Yes, but something has to be said for an app/web site that's shows you how to make deadly chemicals/explosives/steal cars in your bedroom and then turn it into a challenge #hashtag.

I mean sure this is treading into conspiracy territory, but what if you could convince someone to do something by showing them videos of others doing it or suggesting it.
