Microsoft makes Outlook for Mac free to use

I work with a traditional old school company of people for whom e-mail = Outlook.

I can’t convince them to switch to web-based direct access to their gSuite.

I don’t know how many dozens of hours a year they lose on things not syncing with Outlook, “I can’t create Calendar invites anymore”, “My Zoom plugin isn’t there anymore”, etc

But it’s a lot.

Can this be run on Linux via some compatibility layer? I heard Darling exists but I have no idea how good it is.

At this point, it's really not much better than the web interface, and there are more than a handful of web wrapper apps.

What is the value prop?

Who does that value prop target?

What's the embrace and extend?

None of these are apparent to me.

Outlook's biggest value comes pared with Exchage or o365 email anyway... Though I use outlook for android (also free) for my personal email accounts.

Does it support Exchange? Last time I tried it bizarrely it didn’t.

That was probably Outlook Express.

Yes it does.

And it's still not worth it.

Unless it's substantially more performant than the windows version.
