Subject: Important Information About Your Former Chatr Account
Dear Former chatr customer,
We take the privacy of your information very seriously and work hard to protect your information. Chatr is required to temporarily retain some information about former customer accounts after deactivation, including for tax purposes.
Through proactive monitoring, we identified some basic account details from your former account were posted online on January 12, 2023. We have not detected any unauthorized activity on your account and your account remains secure. As soon as we identified the issue, we took immediate action to protect your information and put additional safety measures in place.
We value the trust you place in us, and we sincerely apologize.
After completing a detailed analysis, we have determined that no financial information, date-of-birth, passwords, social insurance numbers or secret questions associated with your former account were posted or viewed. The basic account details accessed included: name, billing address, username, and email address used to activate this account, and if provided, account PIN, account contact telephone number and alternative contact telephone number.
As a precaution we encourage you to regularly update secret questions, use strong passwords, avoid using the same passwords, and keep passwords safely stored. Also, beware of phishing attempts and never click on links sent in text messages or emails unless you are expecting them or they’re from trusted sources.
As a reminder, we will never call, email, or text you and ask for your password, secret questions/answers or account PIN.
If you have questions, please contact chatr customer care at 1-800-485-9745.
Sincerely,
Cameron McFadyen, General Manager, chatr
