The “Kia Boy” Crime Wave

In the 80s, most cars were this easy to steal. The etiquette of the joy ride was known; if possible you left the car unharmed, somewhere public where it could be found, preferably not too far from the place where you got it.

this is yet another reason for civilians to own their own parking boots.

If I was feeling nasty, and had one of these cars; I might install a brake line valve instead of a kill switch. If you don't know to turn that switch, the car runs fine but you got no brakes.

The USB cable is just a fancy screw driver. You could use a crushed bottle cap, but it's easier cutting the end off your school mouse -
