While in India, minorities are jailed and lynched upon suspicion of dealing with beef. Here, we see a senator taking offense on the law because caste-discrimination is made illegal.
Im not even sure how it's Hinduphobic. The irony is that caste was identifying the job a family used to do back when kids picked up their fathers job.
Then some power-hungry people didn't want castes to be mingling and lower castes rising.
How is it even relevant in the tech industry or even in this age when anyone is free to do anything. It's a disgusting practice that needs to die.
Hinduism had a problem with child marriage and practice of sati(where a living wife was cremated along with dead husband) and hindus managed to move on from it when reformers called it for the horrible practice it was. Imagine if it was still prevalent because being against it is Hinduphobic. Laws are made for people not for religions.
Before you all get rage-baited: he's not pro-discrimination. He's implying that creating a law for something which (he believes) doesn't exist is overly punitive and casts a group in a negative light. It's like if they passed a state law specifically banning a specific ethnicity from eating bats. The law implies and gives racists ammo to say that the specific group likes to eat bats.
You’re right and sorry, I wasn’t trying to rage bait. Tweets obviously don’t have headlines like articles do, so I tried to compose the best headline using the tweet’s own words. Found it interesting because this topic was recently discussed on the front page.
When you've stacked the deck in your favour for so long, generations in fact, the tiniest bit of equality feels like oppression.
I can understand how he feels about it casting people in a bad light, but ignoring the problem hurts some of the same people.
