I saw the message today, wasn’t bothered. I can use other 2FA methods.
The question I had in mind, how many users are using it monthly that it would cut costs for Twitter?!
Supposedly, for years now mobile operators oversees were using bot accounts to send millions of 2FA activation texts and basically farming money from twitter who would (unknowingly?) foot the bill. Elon mentioned this not long after acquisition.
Surely an organisation the size of twitter runs their own SMPP gateway or SMSC? Which would make each text cost a fraction of a cent?
