A unified U.S. Senate is a force for freedom in the world

There used to be a saying that politics ends at the water's edge. I haven't heard it in a very long time. It started decaying in perhaps the 1990s. Certainly it had ended by 2015, when some politicians signed a letter telling Iran that they would not abide by a Presidential directive if they took over:

It's nice when people remember it, but it's the exception, not the rule. In fact, that's the reason for an op-ed like this. He's telling his colleagues that he expects them to continue support for Ukraine against Russia, and invoking McCain's name on that. He has to say it, because he knows it's in doubt.
