Debian Release Goals: 64-bit time

I think this page was quite nicely written, but it should perhaps have had slightly more focus on things that will start acting up before the wrap in 2038, stuff like "I made a vpn cert or an internal-only CA cert with a 10 year lifespan" which will not be a problem at 2038 but will be a problem if you want to do it in 2028. This is why you can't wait until you are close to 2038.

The BSDs dealt with this change a very long time ago. It is quite sad Linux is still dragging its feet.

This situation shows the catastrophic inability of this community to plan and execute significantly involved changes, even if they're desperately needed or otherwise offer blatant significant improvement.

Some examples include 64bit time, inodes, offsets. Musl. Libressl. Wayland.
