Chimera – a Linux that isn't GNU/Linux

GNU/Linux is in the minority of Linux distributions (vs vendor-specific / embedded), and the combined footprint of all GNU/Linux distributions is a rounding error compared to the most popular Linux distribution of all time (Android). Android is well-known for having its own libc and userland, but even at launch it was treading a well-worn path set down by embedded developers with musl/uclibc + BusyBox.
The rest of the article is so off-track that it's not worth quoting anything specific to take pot-shots at.
If the author was looking for a clickbait angle, I think the choice to start with Wayland is probably more notable as a headline.
FWIW, not a lot, I talked to the developer for quite a while before writing the piece, and he messaged me today to say that he likes the article, and his only quibbles with it are minor. (For example, there are other GUIs in the installation image, including Enlightenment and some tiling WMs.)
Parenthetically:
I don't really think Android counts as a Linux distro. It's an OS with a Linux kernel, yes, but in all other ways, it's so totally unlike basically every other Linux or indeed Unix that I think calling it a distro is disingenuous.
