Thanks for stopping by, folks. I just got back into updating my weblog and I'd not thrown on the optimizations and caching functionality in a while, and now it's there. It should work fine for you going forward.

Your pal, Jason

Your TLS cert has expired over a year ago. It's self-signed, but still...

    depth=0 CN = ascii.textfiles.com
    verify error:num=10:certificate has expired

FWIW the link is not to https?

Firefox has a nifty feature that switches you to https if it's available called "HTTPS-Only Mode". I encountered the certificate warning, too.

And yet, in this case, it wasn't available, but you got switched anyway ;P. If we are going to go around doing these kind of rewrites on URLs we should probably give up on the various CORS rules that carefully separate these websites.

It is available with the same content.

Reading the linked post made me understand some things about myself a little better. I appreciate it.

Cool write up Jason - 4 years ago i did the same with the electronic music (on vinyl) which i enjoyed in my youth.

It's incredibly thankless - but - as time goes on - meeting (online) the folks that are interested in archiving their little "corner" of releases...sharing/and sometimes teaching folks how to do it - is really something special.

This is really cool. I think you might have stumbled on a new kind of ASMR.

This post gave me some insight into what motivates you to go forward. I can only hope that streaming brings you satisfaction out of what you’re doing. I’m thinking of streaming myself, as a source of motivation to carry on what I’m doing.

I've been following your work for some time, Jason. I think the appropriate phrase nowadays is "doing God's work" :)

The Youtube link on the Archive's version points to an archived Youtube page versus the video in question. https://archive.org/details/youtube-KSWqx8goqSY is the Archive's copy.

It's interesting reading how streaming has mitigated the mundanity of digitization by the concept of having others watch/engage. From an audience perspective there is a certain appeal to feeling like others are tuned into the same thing around the world, even if while doing other things.

Nice, another write up on Jason Scott’s archival lifestyle, if I may call it that.

My personal digital life artifacts fit comfortably in two terabytes, so I don’t have Jason’s challenges.

Anyway cool stuff, and a fun read. If this was posted on Reddit I would give it a big star.

big fan of what you do, thanks again!
