Removing a layer of middle-managers will almost guaranteed improve the performance of any company.

Save costs to protect profits

No, haven't you heard, it is every companies responsibility to invent bullshit work to sustain as many layers of unnecessary employees as possible.

This is a natural progression balanced by layoffs, for whatever reason.

The idea that irks the Marxist in me is that middle managers might sometimes be exempt from layoffs due to their class. No idea if that happens, though.
