Ask HN: Does an unused root URL need to redirect with HTTPS?

So I have a website.

It's set up on the www

http://www resolves fine https://www resolves fine http:// redirects fine https:// doesn't resolve

Is that likely to be an issue, and is there a good fix?

Need to know more about how you have this set up? Which host?

What is doing the redirect? The application or gateway or perhaps some built in DNS thing provided by the registrar?

Redirect your a record to www came then have your www on https. You can use cloud flare to redirect root records to www.
