Lowe's pioneers system to solve organized retail crime

> The product is set to inoperable up until the moment the customer pays for it. An RFID scanner at the register would then read the chip and activate the tool for use.

Hacking activations because the tool "forgot" it was legit, anyone?

They can't even get their "Craftsman" hand tools made to correct quarter inch tolerances. To say nothing of the problems they have with store staff. I expect this to result in lots of inoperable by design junk sitting on their shelves for a while then being scrapped.

If only someone would Pioneer a system to Judge Guilty Criminals with punishment up to and including Execution.
