Tesla reports record revenue and beats on earnings

However, I would love to purchase a car the Tesla way. I hate the dealership experience so much. Plus, all the recent "market adjustments". I am a car guy but dealerships are turning me into someone who hates dealing with cars and doesn't even want to think about buying something from a dealership. I'm either going to buy a Tesla or something from a private party.
The only thing that sucks is that my local tesla showroom never answers their phone or responds to sales inquiries over email.
Tesla part availability is an issue from what I have read.
Also it appears Tesla doesn't perform much scamming in the service departments like dealerships do. Replacing an air filter should not be $79.99.
Car buying (and ownership/maintenance) is far too vulnerable a process to trust a seller blindly. And tesla in particular has had numerous quality issues, a shady support approach involving proprietary parts and massively repair bills, and a track record of over promising and under delivering.
They want to transition park assist to Tesla vision but in the mean time, no park assist on the newest teslas.
This is particularly obnoxious when most (if not all) modern economy vehicles have blind spot warning lights in the side view mirrors and yet the best my 3 can do is really janky live camera feeds and a solid red line on the highway visualization - both of which feel very unreliable and also require you to divert your attention to the screen (which is damn dangerous if you’re merging left but have to look right to see the screen).
I just treat my Tesla like a car from the 90s and always do the standard “sideview mirror into the over the shoulder” glance whenever I’m changing lanes.
You are doing the correct thing anyways. I find it so concerning that so many people rely on the sensors ONLY. The sensors can fail. Your eyes/attention can fail. But having both fail simultaneously is rare and so you should employ both anyways.
Areas for improvement are near the sides of the bumpers, which still jump around a bit in low light.
This is my experience. It keeps improving with each update.
I drove a 2022 Model Y and it showed distance to objects using USS. 2023 does NOTHING.
I'd probably still keep the sensors for now, but I think the lack of sensors is more than compensated by the fact that you have some of the most advanced perception and planning stack running in your personal car.
Tesla isn't some $17k basic car. A car at price of $53k (Model Y), should have basic sensors a $23k civic has.
You sound like a Tesla apologizer.
I don't understand what your point is about animals or kids running, USS cannot help with that while vision can. Ideally Teslas should have an additional camera on the front bumper for better coverage, but again humans don't.
Tesla Inc. and their cars are fine, except for them pushing the FSD scam.
