Google is freaking out about ChatGPT

Lots of smart people at Google feel that releasing their most powerful AI as is ethically dubious. I could've told you a decade ago that those notions would be cast to the wayside once it's time to compete for money.

I doubt Google is “freaking out” but I’m sure they now have a heightened sense of urgency to launch a competing product ASAP. Honestly, they have the talent, technology, and means/resources to make it happen, so realistically, the only things I think put them at a disadvantage are bureaucracy and overall big company issues.

Looking forward to the "Google AI is being sun-setted as soon as it unlocks the doors to the server room" email.

Im very excited about the near future of this field. Seems like its moving very fast recently.

Its also scary but whatever
