RFC: Should Wikipedia return to Vector 2010 as the default skin?

Personally, I set up my browser so that the font and colour choices of the site design gurus mostly have no effect (starting with: settings -> font -> advanced -> untick "Allow pages to choose their own fonts ... ") so I don't care so long as they don't get aggressively overdesigned to the point of me having to use reader mode.
Why so much monetary and intellectual resource is spent on useless fiddling with fonts and colours on webpages I suspect I will never fully understand.

I do admit that decreasing the information density does encourage users to read every word of the introduction, which I usually tend to skip over. Hopefully the Wiki community manages to settle on a design with the best of both sides.
