Maybe Russia should also consider the risks of their own stupidity re: their "special military operation"
I know that seems blase but this is basically buttressing Russia's ongoing propaganda narrative that it's facing an existential threat and had to pre-empt it by invading Ukraine. This bluff can be called at any time by a senior US or EU figure saying 'nobody wants to invade your junk country, just move your military back inside its own border and STFU.'
Does the West want to see Putin weakened or gone, and Russia less powerful? Sure. Is there any appetite to actually seize Russian territory? Not outside of the community that plays Hearts of Iron 4.
