Nest co-founder Matt Rogers’ new startup is trash

> When the bin is full, Mill automatically mails a box to return the waste back to the company, where it’s cleaned, sifted, pasteurized and bagged to be sold as chicken feed to farmers.

> The goal is to eliminate the climate impact of food waste.

Yes, we will eliminate the climate impact of food waste by mailing it around the country.

Here’s an idea - how about getting together with your neighbors and having a local flock of chickens, not having an internet-connected trash can, not mailing your trash to a processing center, and not needing to drive to a store for some eggs.

Sounds similar to what most UK councils provide as a service; they collect your food waste as part of the rubbish collection and send it off for anaerobic digestion to produce power/fertiliser[0]. The difference being this Mill service produces chicken feed, and costs $33/month.
