Cameron's car was a 1982 Alfa Romeo Alfetta which is far from a junker.
I don't know if this is global, but at least in Uruguay in the 80s (and perhaps earlier too) there was a saying that an Alfa made you happy twice: when you bought it, and when you sold it.
