Not only does he have an issue with the authorities, the Chinese people don't seem to like him either, for promoting 996 (working 12hrs a day 6 days a week) and also trying to put people into debt...

Yahoo news has a non paywall version: https://news.yahoo.com/jack-ma-billionaire-founder-alibaba-1...

Thailand has a record of rendering or extraditing people to both China and the US.

Jack should hightail it back to Japan pronto.

To be realistic, the CCP can get to him anywhere except a western built space craft outside of earth’s atmosphere.

Directionally correct, but maybe not the best example:

Pentagon report: China amassing arsenal of anti-satellite weapons (2020)

(this is not actually intended to be a criticism, just an interesting tidbit)

The CCP accomplished their goal without sending him to a camp or killing him: they demonstrated that even a billionaire isn’t above the party, exiling him [1], marginalizing his influence in Ant [2], preventing its IPO [3], etc.

It was sending a message (“know your place”), perhaps not fully intertwined with “common prosperity” [4], but sharing some notes.
