With Schools Ditching Merit for Diversity, Families of High Achievers Leaving

After the Board of Education angered some parents, particularly Asian Americans, by shifting Lowell, the city’s premier selective high school, to a lottery system during the pandemic, a grassroots campaign formed and successfully recalled three members in a landslide vote. The new board voted to keep screened enrollment at Lowell.”

These boards do not represent the parents nor the students. These people are using minorities to make themselves look like virtuous people, often to the detriment of those minority students, who arrive at elite schools and are thrown into a curriculum they are woefully unprepared for.

It is unfortunate that these educators continue to use the hardships of lower income / minority children to prop themselves up as morally superior people. But that’s the world we live in.
