Slightly OT, but I remember doing the Santa FE Institute's online courses on Complexity and finding them to be very solid on the topic https://www.complexityexplorer.org/courses

true, true ... I especially love Liz Breadly's course https://www.complexityexplorer.org/courses/167-nonlinear-dyn...

she seems an amazing educator, check out her 12 min intro: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MizhVorgywY

don't know how long she worked on that script (conveying the idea first, details later). it's the first time I really understood the basics of linear dynamics. super impressive.

btw all of their videos are hosted on YouTube.

I keep on wanting to take this course, so thanks for the vote of confidence on the course itself.

https://chaosbook.org/ see also this, a more idiosyncratic but deeper look into chaos from a physicist's perspective.

Fantastic resource.

This is very well-written. I often struggle with formal explanations of complex and abstract ideas, but the author is getting this across very well. Good stuff.

Are Julia sets the inspiration for the name of julia the language?

Nope. The language was named arbitrarily, the sets are named after a French Mathematician.

We are free to come up with myths about the name origin. My favorite one is that it comes from Julia character of George Orwell's 1984 novel :D

Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the author of this site. Loads quick, gives me just what I need, no fancy stuff, looks great. Thank you!

Came here to say the same. This site is a thing of "elegance and simplicity" as they say in car commercials.
