Britain can still attract a lot of immigrants from Asia, if their policies allow. So, immigration vs emigration flows are based on quality of life: for many in the third world, they are happy to emigrate to UK, than to Dubai, because Arab countries don't give any permanent residencies or citizenship to immigrants.

As a high-earning & tax paying immigrant in UK, it seems it is much easier to come to UK illegally than by legal means. It is getting harder to get a PR.

Cost of living, rise in taxes and degradation in Govt services (e.g NHS) really has got me thinking whether staying in UK is really worth it.

Well, for almost all educated people in the third world, UK passport is worth it; for that matter, any Western passport. After getting the citizenship, sure, they can move to Dubai or anywhere else. Having a Nigerian passport or an Indian passport doesn't make it easy to get a tourist visa to the western countries.
