High-efficiency water filter removes 99.9% of microplastics in 10 seconds

Sawyer [0] filters are better, I've been using them for a while on hiking and kayaking trips. Most filters advertise a membrane diameter of 0.2 microns, while Sawyer products have 0.1 microns, paired with a long enough lifetime to compensate for the residual waste produced (the filter itself). 0.1 microns is 100 nanometers, so it's capable of filtering microplastics, protozoa, all bacteria, and some viruses [1]. But not toxins, heavy metals and most viruses. Most of these hazardous materials could be eliminated by filters having very high surface area, like activated carbon, nano foam in Sawyer S1 and S3 products and the thing this post is about.
