One should already know the media has a liberal bias. Thus it's not really surprising that AI trained on it will too.

Depends on the media. In Hungary, the media has conservative bias - because the ruling party controls like 95% of the media.

Companies are mostly authoritarian. But the face of the authority changed a lot after the 90s or so. Soft power now has a much larger emphasis than previously, in a "you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar" type of way. So what you see is honey, and what you get is vinegar. Looking at it through this lens, it's not surprising that this dissonance exists in Big Tech.
