Ask HN: What's your consulting rate?

I currently charge 95/hr. Been doing a mix of Python/PHP/JavaScript and know my way around their associated frameworks and CMSes (Cake/Django/Flask/Drupal/CodeIgniter). I've done only freelance for 5 years and have worked in Austin and Portland. Rates are probably higher in SF.

Friend (moved to palo alto,part of silicon valley, in Feb of 2011) makes $140 hr for five yrs experience in Ruby/PHP and 2 yr in Python/Ruby on Rails

He claims most engineers make $120-$150 with a couple years experience.

Avg rates I see for everything/everyone is between 100 and 150/hr.
