Sandy Hook should have been a turning point for gun control but very little has changed since then. I'm a gun control advocate but as long as the 2nd amendment is in action owning a gun is 100% legal. It's as valid as any other part of the constitution. We as advocates need to understand and stop advocating for a total ban. The stronger we push the least likely the other side will push for gun control. As protection, they will actually push for no control at all. And they have the constitution on their side. It's time to accept the reality of the 2nd amendment and push for sane control instead of a full ban. We need to make rules that both sides can live with. Continued push for bans have and will continue to lead nowhere.
No, they were killed by people using a gun. The evil is being perpetrated by human beings, not inanimate objects; it is the human beings who must be held responsible.
And every year, at a minimum of 300,000 Americans use guns to protect themselves from robbery, assault, rape, and murder. I feel for the parents that have lost children, but even the most conservative estimates show that guns are used in self-defense far more than suicide or violence that results in homicide (accidental or intentional).
