What if the covid period made people realize the cost and impact of commuting (personally, rather than environmentally). At home, I can do 8 hours of work in 8 hours. At work, I can do 8 hours of work in 8 hours plus twice the commute time. So, time in the office should be 8 - 2c hours/day. Want more, pay enough to walk to work or work from home.
The environmental impact from commuting is inarguable.
